Component testing in civil and railway engineering

At Istituto Giordano's Pomezia site, the Civil Sector specialises in carrying out environmental tests for the qualification of components in the civil sector, especially railways and in-situ tests. These tests are done in accordance with the following standards:

Environmental tests and climate chamber tests

  • CEI EN 60068-1/2/5/11/14/30/52/75:
- Temperature changes
- Dry heat
- Cold
- Humid heat cycles
- Test Sa: Simulated solar radiation on the ground
- Test Ka: Salt spray
- Test Kb: Salt spray, cyclic
- Test Eh: Hammer tests

Degree of protection of enclosures:

  • CEI EN 60529 and variant CEI EN 60529-A1: degrees of protection of enclosures - IP code
  • CEI EN 62262: degrees of protection of enclosures against external mechanical impacts - IK code

Corrosion tests

  • UNI EN ISO 9227: corrosion tests in artificial atmospheres - Salt spray tests

Impact tests

  • UNI EN 14019: curtain walls - Impact resistance
  • UNI EN 13049: windows - Soft and heavy body impact
  • UNI EN 15057: ribbed fibre cement sheets - Impact resistance

On-site testing

  • EN13051 - UNI EN 12154: curtain walls - Water tightness
  • UNI EN 1932: external blinds and shutters - Wind load resistance
  • UNI EN 1933: external awnings - Resistance to load due to water accumulation
