Construction

The Tectonics Department’s Materials Testing Laboratory is a laboratory authorised by the Ministry of Infrastructures pursuant to Ministerial Decree No. 22913 dated 27/11/1982 to operate in accordance with section 59 of Presidential Decree No. 380/2001 (replacing Act No. 1086/71).

With more than 30 years’ experience, the laboratory can be considered a national benchmark as a result of the numerous activities it performs with tests and services requested day-to-day by an increasingly demanding clientele.

Furthermore, in the sizeable area of available space, about 1000 m2 under cover and a similar amount outside, the construction sector has found an ideal location for the development of research activities in support of product innovation that this Institute promotes with its own team of dedicated professionals.

The more than 8000 certificates of on-site surveys and acceptance testing issued every year in the construction materials testing sector serve as a clear recommendation for those who have not yet had the chance to utilise this laboratory’s services.

Require the TESTING AND MATERIALS APPLICATION forms (pursuant to Act No. 1086 dated 5/11/1971 with the updates requested by the Ministerial Decree for cubes and rebars): sdc@giordano.it

MAIN ACTIVITIES

The Construction Laboratory’s main activities regard the following test sectors:
  • Fresh and hardened concrete
  • Cement
  • Steel used in building construction including bars, rolls, strands and structural steelwork
  • Structural timber
  • Loadbearing and infill walls
  • Floor slabs
