The applicable system of assessment and verification of constancy of performance is System 3.

In the European system, the CEN (European Committee for Standardization) considers that Imhoff tanks fall entirely within the scope of standard EN 12566-1.
 
Tests
Possible product characterisation tests include:

• Nominal capacity test
• Watertightness test
• Design check (determination of structural behaviour) as an alternative to the crushing resistance test
• Treatment efficiency test

 
Situation regarding CE marking in Europe
In Europe there are 24 notified bodies capable of working with these products but only 10% of them can offer all tests. As far as the EU is concerned, Istituto Giordano is the only notified body offering both parts of standard UNI EN 12566 for the whole of Southern Europe.
 
The strategic agreement with the no-profit organisation PIA (Development and Assessment Institute in Waste Water Technology - Germany) is indeed of fundamental importance to all Italian and non-Italian manufacturers alike as they can deal with ce certificate of conformity procedures and tests without the need to go abroad.
