This year the prestigious Leadership Award of the ESSA association was attributed to Roberto Porta, "historic" technician of our
Security section, for his important contribution to the development of the sector.
ESSA (European Security Systems Association),
a leading association in the field of industrial security founded in Germany in the 60s, has significantly influenced the standardization of burglary resistance tests on secure storage units, initially in Germany and later increasingly on the European and international market.
For more than three decades Roberto has worked for Istituto Giordano in safety testing. He has been active in European standardization since almost the beginning of the work and attended its first CEN/TC 263/WG 1 meeting on 10 December 1991.
In addition, he is one of the few people in the industry who knows and represents most of the products of ESSA member companies. In addition to safes, he has tested high-security locks, ATM safes (including explosion tests), vaults, burglar-proof doors, shutters and grilles.
"
Characteristics that distinguished him", explained the president Dr. Markus Heering during the award ceremony, "were the ability to listen, the ability to compromise with interested parties, the competence and willingness to adopt new methods and concepts and sharing experiences and ideas related to testing".
In addition, the president highlighted, in front of an audience of over 150 companies divided between producers, distributors and other stakeholders in the sector, how
Istituto Giordano is currently the European reference laboratory for product burglary resistance tests, thanks to the thirty-year work of Roberto Porta and now carried out by his successor Daniele Zecca.
Our sincere congratulations to Roberto for this important acknowledgment, which rewards the work of a lifetime in the field of anti-burglary security.
