Published the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR) 2024/3110

On December 18, 2024, the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR) 2024/3110 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union, replacing the previous Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011.

This regulation introduces significant innovations for the construction sector, with a particular focus on sustainability and digitalization.

Key updates in CPR 2024:
 

• Environmental Sustainability: Manufacturers will be required to declare the environmental performance of their products throughout their entire life cycle, including aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions, use of natural resources, and durability.
• Digitalization of Information Flows: A harmonized European data dictionary will be established, essential for standardizing product information and facilitating digital management.
• Simplified Procedures for SMEs: The new regulation provides support for small and medium-sized enterprises, including shared testing results, the use of technical documentation, and simplified procedures for the assessment and verification of product performance consistency.

The regulation will come into force on January 7, 2025, and will be fully applicable from January 8, 2026, following the publication of new harmonized standards in the Official Journal.

However, the application of the new CPR is tied to the publication of harmonized product standards in the Official Journal, and a detailed timeline with estimated processing times for revisions has been outlined. The old and new CPR will need to coexist for many years to come.
